Exhaust Industry

Regulations governing exhaust emissions have tightened progressively over the past twenty or thirty years, and as a result the demands on manufacturers of exhaust systems have changed too.  A variety of components designed to reduce exhaust emissions are now incorporated into a typical exhaust system, but this can cause problems for exhaust manufacturers which do not possess detailed knowledge of the technologies involved. For example, defining a specification for a component such as a catalyst substrate is a task for a specialist, and ensuring that components are made to an appropriate standard requires some experience. The consequences of making a batch of exhaust systems containing defective emissions control components could be both embarrassing and expensive.

Blackthorn supplies components such as coated substrates and diesel particulate filter elements to customers in the exhaust sector.  We can tailor specifications so that parameters such as tailpipe emissions and pressure drop are within the required limits whilst keeping the costs acceptable too. Although production batches of components tend to be made to order, we do keep certain popular components in stock for fast despatch, a policy which our customers find very useful when they have an urgent requirement.

Another advantage that we offer to exhaust industry players is that by making use of our expertise in emissions control they may be able to offer their customers a single source for all their exhaust requirements, rather than taking the risk of their customers using multiple suppliers. We are generally happy to enter into a confidentiality agreement to protect privileged information.
